Law Enforcement in the colonies
Law enforcement in the colonies of the Empire fall under three different subdivisions. Those being the Imperial Frontier Police, the Frontier Border Guard and the Provincial Auxiliary Police. All forces falling under the command of each colonies Commissioner for Security. There also are a small number of other policing and security units which exist in individual colonies. While the uniforms can differ across colonies (as dependent on climate and culture) the structure and roles roughly are constant across all of the forces.
Imperial Frontier Police (IFP) The Imperial Frontier Police serve as the main policing force of the colonies and are recruited from Polish and Lithuanian citizens in the colonies and those back in Europe. They perform the regular duties of a police force including, crime prevention, community patrol, traffic control, investigation of crime and public order. They number around 320,000 men and woman spread across the colonies and overseas territories. On duty officers are armed with pistols, with heavier equipment kept in storage in case of civil unrest or disorder. Imperial Frontier Border Guard (IFBG) As the name suggests the IFBG are the border defence and security units of the various colonies. Due to the often dangerous borders which they patrol, IFBG officers are trained and equipped with Colonial army weapons including assault weapons and machine guns. Numbering 34,000 men and woman, the IFBG work in close co-operation with the Tactical response units of the Colonial Army when responding to attacks from insurgents who cross the borders from surrounding countries (This is mostly only the case in Central Africa). They also serve an important function in stopping the illegal movement of migrants across the borders who seek to illegally move to the colonies where conditions are often better than that of their home countries. Provincial Auxiliary Police (PAP) The Provincial Auxiliary are a force recruited to support the regular policing units of the colonies. They tend to be recruited from the native populace and patrol the more rural and sparsely populated areas of the various colonies. They number around 45,000 men and woman. Although reporting to the Office of each colonies Commissioner for Security, PAP units tend to act quite independently of the regular police and have been classified as an irregular counter-insurgency force by western observers. They tend to be based around old tribal systems in their seperate regions and work in close proximity with Colonial Army forces. |
